The virtues of efficiency, economy and elbow grease were hard-wired into John Schwieters at a young age. As one of 12 children raised on a dairy farm near Melrose, Minnesota, there was simply no alternative to life and work. Armed with these core values, John co-founded JL Schwieters in 1980 with his brother Leo and quickly built a solid reputation for quality and dependability in the Twin Cities’ framing industry.
From day one, John’s top priority was to retain the best labor force in the metro area. This was achieved by offering full-time employment, top pay, quality health care and excellent retirement plans for all of JL Schwieters’ employees. To further ensure quality control, the company expanded in the year 2000 to become a full-blown lumberyard and construction materials supplier.
With labor and lumber in place, JL Schwieters developed the NexSTEP System™ in response to John’s mission to perfect the framing process and deliver the best buildings in the Upper Midwest. By constructing key structural components in the controlled environment of our indoor fabrication shops, JL Schwieters reduces waste and eliminates the costly delays and errors that run rampant when stick-building structures on-site.
And it doesn’t stop there. John and JL Schwieters remain committed to innovation and improvement. By incorporating new technologies and techniques into its legendary work ethic, JL Schwieters continues to offer the industry’s best, greenest and most affordable solutions to your construction needs.
